ABOUT ME

As I was a child, I was using my wardrobe's door as my blackboard to teach my imaginary students. While I was writing on that board, I knew that teaching was giving me a wonderful feeling. In my opinion, the effect of sharing the knowledge was increasing tremendously. I was able to realize that my growing feelings were like a chain, like a number chain. Then, I was introduced to numbers.   They became my best friends. The fascinating story of number theory from ancient ages to today's modern number theory shelters a huge mystery. I liked the idea of investigating the travel of numbers through time and learning more about their arithmetical properties. This passion pulled me to a postdoctoral research at Queen's University under the supervision of Prof. Ram Murty after I finished my PhD in Selcuk University in Turkey. I am interested in Algebraic and analytic number theory. Particularly, the application of the abc conjecture to some certain kind of Diophantine Equations and the number of the solutions of these sets.

After a long teaching period in different continents and levels of educational institutions, I started to think more on how we learn maths. I applied for Chevening Scholarship Programme and accepted to University of Bristol for studying Neuroscience and Education.

I am interested in how our brain learn maths and how is the science of learning, what are the paths of learning maths in the brain. Does Maths Anxiety differ from general anxiety? During my journey in Bristol, I will be looking for the answers of these questions...

RESEARCH INTERESTS

I am interested in analytic and arithmetic number theory. More precisely, I have worked with Ankeny-
Artin-Chowla and Mordell Conjectures, Squarefull Numbers, Hyperelliptic curves and their L-functions.

As a Chevening Scholar, I am doing research on maths anxiety and its neurobiological effects on our learning. My current research interests are the science of learning and how to improve our understanding of mathematics with the support of neuroscience studies.

You can find more detailed information about the research interests above in my research blog and publications.

Some of my personal interests are traveling (I have a plan for 40 countries in 40 years...),I am playing tennis (I competed in men's final of a local tournament one time -due to the lack of female participation :)) and I play piano. Music is an amazing motivation for me. Piano keys look to me like numbers and the melody sounds an arithmetic property of some certain set of numbers. I am interested in pottery. Click here in order to have a look at my masterpieces ;)
